STM buys LBM Autoparts

4 September 2012

Svensk Transmission & Motor AB (STM) buys LBM Autoparts, Sweden’s leading distributor of transmission parts.

The group of companies of which STM and Scandinavian Transmission Service AB form a part has until now specialised in the rebuilding of automatic transmissions for private cars. We work hard to ensure that we always have a comprehensive supply on hand that meets our customers’ diverse requirements. We have now made the decision to enter the component supply segment. LBM Autoparts was established in 1991 and ever since has been run with personalised and high quality service. The wide product range comprises parts for ZF, Mercedes, Aisin AW (Aisin Warner), Ford, GM, Jatco and Mitsubishi.
– LBM Autoparts will form an important cornerstone of our company. At the same time we will complement our stock of spare parts to include more heavy items than in the past as well as transmission oils. We will develop into a ’one stop shop’ where car repair shops and specialist workshops across the country can order everything they need with short lead times and speedy delivery, says Erik Stålebo (STM director).

The merger took place in May and the warehouse and sales office will move from Landvetter, just outside Gothenburg, to Stenungsund. LBM will appoint a sales representative and the short-term growth prognosis is strong due to the plans to launch the company in the rest of Scandinavia.
– I know that there is a huge market potential but also great challenges for small part distributors. Technical development is unprecedented and the number of variants is increasing the whole time. Together, STM and STS are Sweden’s biggest actor in terms of production, competence and resources, thus enabling activities that we could possibly not have managed on our own. For that reason I am very happy with this solution, not least for the sake of my clients, says Mikael Thor, former owner of LBM Autoparts.
